Comic 1139 - Rubber and Glue

I’m a substance obtained from the goo
From a tree that originally grew
In Old Venezuela
But thanks to some sailor
Now covers south Asia. You’re glue.

Original comic here.

Comic 1138 - Heatmap

Those marvellous marketing chaps
Can show your consumers on maps.
It turns out you’re sellin’
Where people are dwellin’
But scoring a duck in the gaps.

Original comic here.

Comic 1079 - United Shapes

Iowa's a sandwich deluxe
While Ohio's pants; Cali sucks.
But OK's panhandle
And the rest will net Randall
Minnesota: a bundle of bucks.

Comic 1040 - Lakes and Oceans

Lakes: dredging most any you like'll
Turn up some old junk to recycle
But unless you've a net
2K long, I'd forget
About getting stuff out of Lake Baikal.

Original comic here.

I had no idea Baikal was so much deeper than other lakes. Interesting about the Lusitania sinking in water shallower than the ship was long, too.

Comic 977- Map Projections

The projection we know as Gall-Peters
Gets everything right in square metres;
It'd be on my wall
If its fans were not all
Peruvian-hatted bean-eaters.

Classic comic 503 - Terminology

The West's in the west, you suggest?
Your conjecture is sketchy at best.
And the East in the east?
No, not in the least -
It's east of the West, in the west.

Comic 850 - World According to Americans

There's a funny map doing the rounds
That defames the US, on the grounds
That they all couldn't do less
Geog, and are clueless;
The truth's not as bad as that sounds.

Original comic here.

And in case you aren't familiar, here is a link to the kind of funny maps that this comic is a response to.
